What happens to people who put career and education on hold for a few days or weeks? We don’t relax! We hunt.-for “Attention”. Here’s 7 examples:
Let me say that education and career are also vehicles to attention fulfillment, but that’s another story.
1- The heat goes up and the clothes come off. Why?- Is it because we are hot or because we are “HOT”? What is my body image and how much is this fueled by opinion?

2- The convertibles come out because why? Are they cooler to drive or are they COOLER to drive? Will I draw more attention in a Mustang rag top or a Volvo sedan?

3- Sunglasses come on everywhere. Is it because of eye protection?
Just maybe it’s so we can observe more discretely being noticed by others.

4- We eat out of doors more at especially obvious places like cafes. It’s because we like flies buzzing around our food and drinks right?
Other people may not be able to admire that deep rich tan you have if you eat indoors though. Don’t you think?

5- Time to relax by the pool right? There’s no effort or cost in maintaining a pool and it’s a pleasure skimming the water for insect remains.Or is it because the truth is that lying around your pool with no one else to appreciate the fine figure of an athlete you are or how successful you are (to even be able to afford a pool) needs the participation of others.

6- Destination for vacation is a banner of success to render jealousy back at the office.For Parents, it is proving how well they provide for their children.

7- Children,in turn, now lacking in the companionship of the majority of their classmates, become more needy with mom and dad because …. They need Attention! “Look what I drew”.

Is it any wonder that when we return from vacation the majority of us feel the need to rest. We have been so busy either proving ourselves to friends and family or trying to steal the attention of total strangers that the office or classroom are a welcome refuge.

That is not to say that we do not have ego issues apart from vacations but, that is another story.
